Please enjoy these photos featuring 8th Grade Science students working as mechanical engineering interns at Futura Engineering to design a supply pod that will deliver humanitarian aid packages to people in disaster-stricken locations.
Students learned about engineering practices to deepen their understanding about collision forces. They also explored how to manipulate mass and falling speed in the design process.
Students strive to meet these design criteria: minimizing cargo damage, maximizing shell condition, and keeping costs low. By the end of the unit, students are able to explain the features, trade-offs and science behind their optimal design in a written proposal. This 10-day immersive Engineering Internship is intended to follow the Amplify Science Force and Motion unit.

Reminder to come support Ladycat Volleyball at 4pm on October 23rd at Thunderbolt Middle School!

Thank you to KOCR (Kids on the Colorado River) for sponsoring a lovely Burrito Shack lunch for Thunderbolt Middle School Staff.
Kids on the Colorado River is designed to revitalize local community student knowledge about a variety of Colorado River topics.
Through this powerful program, students who will be our future workforce or community leaders will now have the resources and information to support and nurture our community waterway as they continue into adulthood.
