Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, the Arizona State Board of Education launched a student of the month program to recognize outstanding students from across Arizona. The Board receives nominations from educators, administrators, and other adults involved in students' educational lives during a nomination window and selects two students per month to recognize at Board Meetings.
Caylin Kendrick, a former Jamaica Croc and current Thunderbolt Thundercat is the AZ Department of Education September Student of the Month in the category of Personal Qualities/Character. At Jamaica Elementary Caylin embodied leadership as the Student Council President, where she demonstrated exceptional qualities that make her not just a leader, but a role model. Her peers look up to her for her unwavering commitment to her responsibilities, including making daily morning announcements and representing the National Honor Society (NEHS).
Caylin excels academically, earning the prestigious Gold Medal Presidential Award at the Evening of Excellence. Beyond the classroom, she is actively involved in her community through theater and dance, showcasing her versatility and dedication. She seamlessly handles the pressures of her various roles, from making business calls for the Student Council and NEHS to adapting to any challenges that come her way with grace and resilience.
Known for her selflessness, Caylin always puts her best foot forward and remains true to herself, never succumbing to peer pressure. She is highly self-aware, in tune with her emotions, and steadfast in her values, ensuring she follows the rules and maintains her integrity. Her genuine character and ability to adapt make her an exemplary student, admired by both peers and teachers alike. Caylin Kendrick is a shining example of exceptional personal qualities and character, making her a deserving candidate for this recognition.
