VFW Patriot's Pen Essay Contest logo

LHUSD would like to recognize the following students and staff for their achievements as part of the VFW Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy Competitions. The following students were named winners for VFW Post 9401.  With us is Omer Ethier, Commander of Post 9401.

Masyn Martens, Chasity Coleman, and Sofia Lonial were named winners of the Patriot's Pen essay competition.  They each submitted essays answering the question, "How are you inspired by America?". Masyn Martens was the Post 1st place winner.

Gunnar Robinson, Logan Swanson,  and Given Rugh were named winners of the Voice of Democracy essay competition.  They each submitted essays answering the question, "What are the greatest attributes of our democracy?".  Gunnar Robinson was the Post winner and went on to win at the district level.

In addition, Mrs. Katie Rabideau was named the 2023 VFW Teacher of the Year.
