English Learner (EL) Program

What is the EL Program?

The EL Program is designed to help students improve their English skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Our goal is to ensure every student can participate fully in their classes and achieve academic success.

Who is Eligible?

Students may qualify for the program if:

  • Their primary language is not English.

  • Their English language skills are still developing, as determined by the AZELLA assessment.

Parent Choice

All of our schools provide targeted EL instruction. Families can choose to:

  • Remain at Your Current School: Students will receive EL program services including access to Lexia English

  • Transfer to Havasupai’s Designated EL Program

While every school offers support for English Learners, our English Learner (EL) program at Havasupai Elementary School offers a full-time teacher dedicated to supporting students who are developing their English language skills. Havasupai provides an environment where students can build their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English while also excelling in core academic subjects.
